World class research and development of anticancer products is something Novartis are very proud to be able to boast. Novartis are at the cutting edge of cancer research resulting in an ever increasing portfolio of high quality products including treatments for breast cancer, osteolytic bone metastases, hypercalcemia of malignancy, acromegaly, GEP tumour symptom relief, and philadelphia chromosome positive Chronic Myeloid Leukemia. Indeed the introduction of Glivec for CML was in itself a world class process. From time of first human trial, to first license approval for Glivec, was a period of only 32 months, setting a new standard in the the development of new products. The successful introduction of Glivec also owes a great deal to our own manufacturing plant in Ringaskiddy, which without the dedication and determination of all involved, would not have allowed such a rapid introduction to occur.
